It started with an idea.

"Everyone should be able to treat themselves on Valentine's Day!"

In 2015, a group of friends took up a collection in the belief that everyone—regardless of their financial situation—should be able to indulge in self-care and a few little luxuries on Feb 14th.

A trunkload of movies, candy, and other gifts was delivered to a local women's resource centre, and the concept of Galentine's Day was born.

Today, Galentine's Day has become an annual initiative run by a committee of volunteers and in partnership with the North End Women's Centre.

Our initiative evolved from gift deliveries to in-person experiences, and since 2017 our group has hosted 5 Galentine's Day events, welcoming guests to enjoy a free lunch, gift bags, treats, and self-care services like haircuts, manicures, and makeovers.

Since our inception in 2015, Galentine's has raised over $33,000

in donated funds from generous Winnipeggers and our surrounding communities.

This money has directly funded the free, treat-filled, gift-filled, self-care treatment extravaganzas we throw for women and gender-diverse folks in Winnipeg's North End.
