It started with an idea.

"Everyone should be able to treat themselves on Valentine's Day!"

In 2015, a group of friends took up a collection in the belief that everyone—regardless of their financial situation—should be able to indulge in self-care and a few little luxuries on Feb 14th.

A trunkload of movies, candy, and other gifts was delivered to a local women's resource centre, and the concept of Galentine's Day was born.

Today, Galentine's Day has become an annual initiative run by a committee of volunteers and in partnership with the North End Women's Centre. Since 2015 our group has hosted 4 in-person events, welcoming the women of Winnipeg's North End to enjoy a free lunch, gift bags, treats, and self-care services like haircuts, manicures, and makeovers.

Due to COVID-19, for the past few years we've pivoted to an online campaign that raised money for hygiene essentials and cold weather gear to be delivered to the North End Women's Centre.

But this year, Galentine's Day is coming back with an in-person event!
